Curriculum
High Aspirations; Bright Futures
Curriculum Intent
Meadowhead Junior School is committed to meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum in as creative a way as possible, whilst also providing a range of additional experiences and opportunities, in order to best meet the learning and social and emotional needs of the children in our local community.
The curriculum is designed to be a knowledge-rich based curriculum that recognises prior learning and addresses gaps in children’s knowledge and skills through well-planned, meaningful learning experiences.
Our school population is made up of children of differing needs, backgrounds and prior attainment. Regardless of these factors, we are highly ambitious for every child. Those children with identified special educational needs or disabilities, English as an additional language or challenging social circumstances are all expected to make good progress and to perform at age-related levels. Those with high prior attainment are expected to broaden and deepen their understanding so that they can continue to excel.
By the end of their journey at Meadowhead Junior School, we want our children to be equipped with the necessary academic and social skills to achieve their aspirations and have a bright future.
To find out more about how we deliver our curriculum and how it fits in with our school and community, please don't hesitate to speak to class teachers or Mrs Lawton, our curriculum lead. We also run many parent workshops, open days and events which we would love parents to attend to help them see in more detail what children are learning in school. Please see the newsletters section of the website for more information on these.
