Intent Statement

The Science curriculum at Meadowhead Junior aims to spark curiosity and excitement about the world around us. It builds progressively, focusing on key scientific concepts and skills that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry. Pupils are encouraged to understand and explore natural phenomena, preparing them to apply scientific principles in everyday life and beyond.

Implementation Statement

The curriculum provides a foundation in scientific knowledge through hands-on activities and investigations. As pupils progress, they work scientifically by developing observation, prediction, and analysis skills. The use of practical experiments, enhrichment, and cross-curricular activities enriches learning. Resources like PLAN and Explorify ensure consistent progression, with an emphasis on scientific vocabulary and inquiry-based learning.

Impact Statement

By the end of their time at Meadowhead Junior, pupils will have developed a strong understanding of science and the world around them. They will be confident in conducting experiments, asking questions, and applying scientific concepts.
